Hang Zhang

Hang is a Ph.D. researcher at the chair of Digital Building Technologies (DBT), Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA), ETH Zurich. His research interest is mainly focused on the design and fabrication of advanced materials, with the optimization via frontier machine learning algorithms.

He holds a Master of Science degree (MS) in Architecture at the School of Design, University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (BA) at Wuhan University. Prior to joining DBT, he worked at Roboticplus with fabrication algorithms development, also took participate in the joint research of composite material from the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), University of Pennsylvania.

Architect with a particular interest in digital fabrication with concrete. After various experience in architectural planning, concrete manufacturing and project management, she conducted research as a PhD student at ETH Zürich with a focus on novel robotic construction processes and concrete formulations.
