Wenqian Yang is a Research Assistant at the Chair of Digital Building Technologies, Institute of Technology In Architecture (ITA) at ETH Zurich. Her recent work focuses on the experimentation and application of Extended Reality technologies in both research projects and teaching programs. She developed the online multi-user teaching app “Molegram” in collaboration with CADD ETH. She curated the AR/VR exhibition for the “Tor Alva”(white tower) project, hosted in both Muglens and Zurich. She also led the development of the project “Floor Plan Generation from Tracked Physical Objects,” an extension of the 7 day house project. In teaching, Wenqian has been one of the leading tutors for the Advanced Computation Design courses in 2022 and 2023. She also assisted DFAB MAS T2 with AR assembly and supervised the thesis “Augmented Physical Model.”
Wenqian obtained an M.Arch degree with distinction at the Bartlett. After that she pursued the MAS Digital Fabrication program at ETH Zurich with a focus on robotic fabrication. Her thesis project Design Freedom in Eggshell contributes to the smart dynamic casting research topic at ETH. Wenqian also worked in Block Research Group ETH as research assistant and participated in the development of RhinoVault2 and COMPAS Skeleton.
