Ioanna Mitropoulou

Ioanna Mitropoulou is a doctoral researcher and ITA fellow at the chair of Digital Building Technologies (DBT) at the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA) at the Department of Architecture, ETH Zurich. Her current research focuses on developing a digital workflow for the design of non-planar print paths for advanced robotic additive manufacturing processes.

Ioanna received her Master of Architecture from the National Technical University of Athens in 2017. While pursuing her masters, she carried out Erasmus studies at ENSAPLV Paris la Villette, where she became acquainted with computational design tools. She also studied a year abroad in the FabLab of IAAC, Barcelona, where she completed the Fab Academy educational program gaining hands-on experience on digital fabrication techniques. She then pursued post-graduate studies at ETH Zurich, where she completed the Master of Advanced Studies in Architecture and Digital Fabrication. Her professional experience includes a year of work at ESRI R&D Zurich as part of the XR team where she focused on procedural urban design in the context of the novel opportunities offered by Virtual Reality for designing and communicating urban scale proposals.
