IDEAL ARCHITECTURE – THE OFFICE

Guest-review with Jeannette Kuo and Benjamin Dillenburger

35 pairs of students headed out into the Swiss territory in order to find their „ideal“ office building — examples with strong ideas concerning the function of the office. Through the course of the semester and various site visits, the students analyzed their findings through drawings, photographs and models. They then defined criteria and argument to narrow down the selection from seven (LONGLIST), to three (SHORTLIST), and to the one example (THE OFFICE). In the final step, the students were asked to update their chosen example, synthesising the deep knowledge of the particular example and the developed principles and strategies from the entire process. In this sense, the Update is the continuation of the ideas and principles that created through the selected “Offices”.
