Ariel Lim

Ariel Cheng Sin Lim is a doctoral researcher at the Chair of Digital Building Technologies within the Institute of Technology in Architecture of ETH Zurich. She received the Architecture & Technology Doctoral Fellowship in 2024 to pursue her research on developing novel digital design and fabrication workflows for 3D printing ceramic architectural components.

Ariel holds a BSc in Architecture and Sustainable Design from the Singapore University of Technology and Design and an MA in Computation in Architecture from the Royal Danish Academy, where her master’s thesis focused on a robotic workflow for 3D printing bio-receptive ceramic structures. Prior to joining ETH, she worked at the Centre of Information Technology and Architecture on experimental research into bio-integrated digital design and fabrication. Her research experience spans a range of digital fabrication techniques, with a focus on developing novel additive manufacturing workflows with diverse materials, including emerging living and biomaterials. In practice, she has worked in international architectural firms on projects across residential, infrastructure, hospitality, and medical sectors.
