The chair for Digital Building Technologies (DBT) researches in new building technologies based on the seamless integration of computational design methods, digital fabrication and new materials. In this context, DBT investigates large-scale additive manufacturing strategies in architecture. DBT and the postgraduate program in digital fabrication are part of Switzerland’s national center of competence in research in digital fabrication (NCCR DFAB). We are looking for a candidate to conduct research and process development in the field of large-scale additive manufacturing and computational design. One focus will be the investigation in robotic concrete extrusion processes for structural building components. Responsibilities also include teaching of post-graduate (Master of Advanced Studies MAS DFAB) courses on related topics in digital fabrication with a focus on 3D printing in architecture.
The candidate should have a master’s degree in architectural design or related fields and have experience in digital fabrication, in academic writing and in managing design projects. Design competence and familiarity with state-of-the-art CAD software and programming are required. You should be an excellent communicator, be fluent in English, and feel comfortable working in interdisciplinary teams with a high level of initiative and creativity.
